Our Structure
House of Gran and Guardians of the Grandmas CIC are distinct and should not be treated
as the same organisation, account, seller or contracting party.
House of Gran is the creative and public-facing platform through which stories, films,
recipes, books, music and other cultural work are shared.
Guardians of the Grandmas CIC is a Community Interest Company established to deliver
projects for community benefit, including the research, recording and preservation of
the stories, recipes, traditions and lived experiences of grandmothers and elders.
Where a particular project, event, publication or activity is delivered or funded by
Guardians of the Grandmas CIC, we will identify this clearly.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, activities, products and services offered through
House of Gran should not be assumed to be activities of Guardians of the Grandmas CIC.

How CIC funding is used
Guardians of the Grandmas CIC exists to create community benefit rather than private gain.
Funding received by the CIC is used to research, develop and deliver its community work.
This includes documenting and preserving oral histories, recipes and cultural traditions;
interviewing and filming elders; research and archive work; developing educational and
digital resources; producing community events, workshops and cultural activities; and
supporting intergenerational participation.
Delivering this work also requires people, skills and infrastructure. CIC funding may
therefore be used to pay appropriate fees and costs associated with researching,
producing, managing and delivering projects, as well as the operational and
administrative costs necessary to keep the work sustainable.
This can include payments to researchers, producers, filmmakers, artists, project staff,
freelancers and other professionals involved in delivering the CIC’s work, together with
production, travel, venue, equipment, technology, insurance, accounting, administration
and other legitimate project costs.
Where funding has been awarded for a specific project or purpose, it is managed in
accordance with the conditions and approved budget attached to that funding.
Being a Community Interest Company does not mean that the people carrying out the work
cannot be paid. It means that the CIC is operated for community benefit rather than
private gain and that any surplus generated by the CIC is reinvested into its community
activities.
Our Community Purpose
The work of Guardians of the Grandmas CIC includes preserving oral histories, recipes,
memories and cultural knowledge that might otherwise be lost; creating opportunities
for elders and younger generations to participate together; reducing isolation;
supporting cultural education; and making this material accessible through films,
recordings, publications, workshops, performances, events and digital archives.
We believe that properly researching, documenting and preserving this material requires
long-term investment. Part of making the project sustainable is therefore ensuring that
the people responsible for delivering the work can be appropriately paid and that the
organisation has the resources required to continue its work.
Transparency
We want the way Guardians of the Grandmas CIC operates to be open and understandable.
The CIC’s constitutional documents, statutory filings, annual accounts and Community
Interest Company reports are or will be available through the public Companies House
register.
We may also publish additional information on this website about funded projects,
partners, grants, project outcomes and how funding has supported our community work.
Where appropriate, individual project pages will identify the organisation or funder
supporting the work.
Relationship Between House of Gran and Guardians of the Grandmas CIC
House of Gran and Guardians of the Grandmas CIC may collaborate on particular projects,
campaigns, publications or activities.
Where this happens, the nature of that relationship will be identified where reasonably
practical.
Funds awarded directly to Guardians of the Grandmas CIC belong to the CIC and are
a ccounted for separately from House of Gran. CIC funds are used for the purposes and
community activities of the CIC and, where applicable, in accordance with the
requirements of the relevant funder.
A collaboration between House of Gran and Guardians of the Grandmas CIC does not, by
itself, make them the same legal or financial operation.

House of Gran and Guardians of the Grandmas CIC are distinct and should not be treated
as the same organisation, seller, account or contracting party.
House of Gran is a sole trader. Guardians of the Grandmas
CIC is a separate Community Interest Company registered in England and Wales under
company number 17254354.
When purchasing a product or service through House of Gran, the identity of the
organisation or person supplying that product or service will be stated during the
purchasing process or within the applicable product information.
A purchase from House of Gran should not be treated as a purchase from Guardians of the
Grandmas CIC unless Guardians of the Grandmas CIC is expressly identified as the seller
or contracting party.
Similarly, a donation, grant or other payment made specifically to Guardians of the
Grandmas CIC is received by the CIC and is separate from payments made for products or
services supplied through House of Gran.
House of Gran and Guardians of the Grandmas CIC may collaborate on specific projects.
Where appropriate, the relevant project page or communication will identify which
organisation is delivering or funding the activity.
